LIFEWORKS YOUTH & FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER

After patiently searching for a property positioned to be accessible to their clients, LifeWorks has secured a six acre site in East Austin. Kit and his team were engaged to produce a master plan that would consider the location of a 30-40 thousand square foot Youth and Family Resource Center in conjunction with utilizing the remainder of the site for housing that is compatible with LifeWork’s mission and values. Seeking to transition youth toward successful adulthood, the Youth and Family Resource Center intends to be a place that reinforces the idea of transition toward success, individual empowerment, peace, health and healing. LifeWorks also desires that this facility be a part of the East Austin community and it is desired that the building make a powerful statement that changes public perception of what a social services building should look like. Utilizing the remainder of the site, LifeWorks is considering a mix of various housing types. Student housing will be located on the north edge of the site to take advantage of the site’s adjacency to ACC’s Eastview Campus. Live/Work units have been proposed on Lyon Street to provide incubator commercial space for entrepreneurs. In the center of the site, gathered around three muses, row housing has been provided with ample square footage to accommodate families.
