hunter Ranch house

Home for Texas Lavender Hills Farm & Market, the Hunter House sits just outside of the quaint town of Blanco—the lavender capital of Texas. A simple and straightforward house, it uses rugged materials to create a relaxed but elegant home in the Texas Hill Country.

The L-shaped plan wraps around the yard to frame year-round views across the hills of Central Texas. The house is conceptually an assembly of two buildings—the "farm house" and the adjacent "barn." By using local stone, classic wood detailing, and plenty of windows, the farm house has a more refined, finished look, fitting its use as the primary living space. Conversely, the barn is clad in corrugated metal to give it a look of agrarian utility; thus, housing the more utilitarian spaces.
